GMAT Quantitative Section Tips & Overview

It helps to understand what the quantitative section is trying to test so you can approach the GMAT smarter. You will gain a solid advantage because you will see “though” the questions, find them easier to answer, and provide better answers, giving you a better score.

The quantitative section has 37 multiple choice questions and lasts 75 minutes.

There are two types of questions:

Roughly 40% of this section is data sufficiency questions. The rest are problem solving questions.

The quantitative section tests basic math skills. It is neither tricky or overly complex.

If you are weak in math skills, study guides and old GMAT tests will help you immensely.

Preparation Tips for the Quantitative Section

People psych themselves out about math. Clear your head.

Calculators are not allowed at the test, so practice not using one during your everyday life.

You will be provided with scratch paper and pencils. So use them when you take practice tests.
